Carisbrooke College

About the College

Carisbrooke College is a large, vibrant 11-19 College, strategically positioned in Newport to allow easy access from all areas of the Isle of Wight. There are approximately 1550 students on roll, of which approximately 300 sixth form students are based at the joint Island Innovation VI form Campus in the centre of Newport. The sixth form is a joint venture with our federated partner, Medina  College.

Students come to Carisbrooke from across the whole Island. We foster close links with our feeder primary schools and engage with their students on a number of initiatives, including shared teaching in specialist areas such as science, mathematics, PE and technology. Following the reorganisation of education on the Island, we plan to run workshops and clubs for primary pupils to help them adjust to secondary school life and continue to develop their love of learning. The links we have with primary schools will be fostered to enable a smooth transition for these pupils to Carisbrooke College.

Carisbrooke has been at the heart of education on the Isle of Wight for over 50 years and has a well deserved reputation for high standards. The academic results have improved over the past ten years, resulting in 77% of pupils achieving 5 A* - C grades in 2011. We have a strong foundation to build upon and at Carisbrooke we are committed to excellence in teaching and learning and the progression of each individual student.
